True North Classical Academy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jackson 42-0. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Cecil Smith had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 101 yards and one touchdown, while also picking up 100 receiving yards and one TD. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 57 yards. Gregory Florence was another key back, rushing for 81 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: True North Classical Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Another reason for the win was True North Classical Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Ricky Carter was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset Academy - Canyons). They enjoyed a cozy 22-7 win over King's Academy on Thursday.
Somerset Academy - Canyons didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Javian Williams and Roodensky Renelus. Somerset Academy - Canyons got some further help from Wilzard Sterling: he picked up three sacks, forced one fumble, and made three total tackles.
True North Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4.
