Belvidere is a perfect 10-0 against Boylan Catholic since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. While Belvidere's victory against Guilford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Buccaneers had just enough and edged out the Vikings 6-5 on Tuesday. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kyleigh Kamholtz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sam Bohlken was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last ten matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Trevino, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Belvidere kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Boylan Catholic couldn't beat Rockford Auburn on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Titans lost 17-8 to the Knights. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Maddy Kiley was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Lily Burke was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
The victory got Belvidere back to even at 10-10. As for Boylan Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Belvidere got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 8th against Boylan Catholic by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
