Inspiration Academy has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lake Wales recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will challenge the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Inspiration Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Clearwater on Tuesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Tornadoes. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Jade Carnahan was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Mya Ferrari also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Inspiration Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Lake Wales came out on top against George Jenkins on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Highlanders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout.
Not much got past Anna Conroy, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep George Jenkins off the board. Conroy has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mattie Cockrell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kirsten McRae was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Inspiration Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Wales, their record is now 11-7.
Both Inspiration Academy and Lake Wales just can't seem to miss. The Lions have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Lake Wales struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Inspiration Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Wales in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
