The Sebastian River Sharks will venture away from home to face off against the South Fork Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sebastian River is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Plantation 20-1. Winning may never get old, but the Sharks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Kiera Carow was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Alexa Pittman and Rily Biggers did most of the damage at the plate: Pittman went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Biggers went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Pittman has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Villars, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Sebastian River hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, South Fork never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against McArthur as they made off with an 18-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on six straight.
McArthur's batters probably weren't too happy with Mackenzie Brown, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up a single walk). With that strong performance, Brown is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Rachel Kramer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Briana Carrier also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
South Fork pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sebastian River, their record is now 17-10.
Both Sebastian River and South Fork just can't seem to miss. The Sharks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like South Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sebastian River came up short against South Fork in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, falling 4-0. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
