Martinsville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Charlestown to the tune of 52-20. That looming 52-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Artesians yet this season.

Lucas Dewey produced another solid effort rushing for 152 yards and four scores. Martinsville is 3-1 when Dewey posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-5 otherwise. Chase Davis was another key player, having thrown for 307 yards and three touchdowns.
Martinsville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nathan LaFary, Landyn Hamblen, and Christian Mercer, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Bedford North Lawrence made easy work of Shelbyville on Friday and carried off a 41-21 win. The Stars haven't had any issues with the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Bedford North Lawrence's win came from a few key players Martinsville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dayson Kirby, who threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 44 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Another rusher making a difference was Brody Horton, who rushed for 105 yards and a pair of TDs.
Martinsville's record now sits at 5-6. As for Bedford North Lawrence, their record is now 8-3.
Things could have been worse for Martinsville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-15 loss to Bedford North Lawrence in their previous matchup back in August. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kirby, who threw for 407 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt.
