Ashland can finally bid farewell to their 16-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 win over the Van Buren Crusaders. The Hornets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Ashland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Van Buren, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashland will square off against Katahdin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Van Buren, they will face off against Wisdom at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
