Sierra is 0-10 against Chowchilla since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Chieftains will head out to challenge the Tribe at 4:00 p.m. Sierra knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Chowchilla likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Sierra got the win against Minarets by a conclusive 13-3. The win continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.
Addy Carrillo was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Kk Mikesell was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylah Gibson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Sierra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Chowchilla lost 13-3 to Liberty on Friday. The Tribe have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Brianna Guardado made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Sierra's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chowchilla, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sierra hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .416. However, it's not like Chowchilla struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sierra suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Chowchilla in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
