Meanwhile, Pompton Lakes posted their closest victory since May 13, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Butler, sneaking past 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Not much got past Vinnie Stigliano, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Butler off the board. Stigliano has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pompton Lakes' victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Angelo Fusaro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Glen Rock's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Pompton Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
