Basketball Recap: IDEA North Mission Takes a Loss

IDEA North Mission played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-35 loss at the hands of the Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Spartans. IDEA North Mission was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vanguard Academy Rembrandt apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gael Cortez, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points along with six steals and five boards. That's the most points Cortez has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Cantu, who posted 17 points and four steals.

IDEA North Mission's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-10. As for Vanguard Academy Rembrandt, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

IDEA North Mission didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-53 loss against Vanguard Academy Beethoven on the 21st. As for Vanguard Academy Rembrandt, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-40 win against Idea Academy on the 23rd.
