After a string of three wins, the Community School of Davidson Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 76-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Lake Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Community School of Davidson still got an impressive performance from Dermot Lowry, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. Lowry's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. John Shields was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine Lake Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Morgan, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morgan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joseph Bruce, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Community School of Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Pine Lake Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Community School of Davidson will be playing at home against Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Island Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Community School of Davidson likes a good challenge. As for Pine Lake Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Christ the King at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Christ the King focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
