Bryce Disimile made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. St. John Lutheran is undefeated when Disimile allowsthree or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Disimile was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luis Roman, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Justin Wallace was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
St. John Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Branford didn't have quite enough to beat Gainesville on Tuesday and fell 7-5.
Keaton Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 1-for-2. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.
St. John Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. Branford now has a losing record of 3-4.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. John Lutheran has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Branford struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
