Genoa-Hugo/Karval is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 70-18 defeat at the hands of Byers. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-10.
Despite the loss, Genoa-Hugo/Karval had strong showings from Eddy Franey, who posted 11 points and five boards, and Tehgan Seymour, who scored two points.
Meanwhile, Burlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 62-42 to Akron.
Genoa-Hugo/Karval will need focus on slowing down Weston Schaal, one of several Burlington players who made an impact when they last played. He had nine points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Schaal a new career-high in assists (four). Darian Mcdonough was another key player, putting up seven points.
Even though they lost, Burlington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Genoa-Hugo/Karval has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Burlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
