The Butler Lynx will square off against the Johnson Pumas at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Butler is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Butler gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Bulls College Prep 84-12 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-7.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xamiya Walton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. Walton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Xyanna Walton was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Johnson came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they left with even more momentum. They escaped with a win against ITW David Speer Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 32-31.
It was another big night for Destiny Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Johnson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierria Martin, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Butler has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Johnson, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Everything came up roses for Butler against the Pumas in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 62-20 victory. With Butler ahead 43-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
