Covington-Douglas was led to victory by Derrek Daugherty and Ford Smith. Daugherty scored 21 points along with eight rebounds, while Smith scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Covington-Douglas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Tarango, who scored nine points.
Covington-Douglas' win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Canton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
After both having extra time off, Covington-Douglas and Deer Creek-Lamont will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another on January 4, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Deer Creek-Lamont is ranked 260th, while Covington-Douglas is ranked 281st).
