The Wabash Apaches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northfield. Wabash was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northfield apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Wabash's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six assists. Honeycutt is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Janika Stumbo, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Northfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Camryn Kuhn out in front who scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Wabash's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Northfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wabash will take on Southwood at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Southwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. As for Northfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern Wells at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Southern Wells is ranked 309th, while Northfield is ranked 295th).
