The Winter Park Wildcats have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Master's Academy on Saturday. Winter Park was down 47-27 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Childs, who scored 32 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Childs has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Danychka Badio, who scored eight points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Master's Academy found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn O'Gallagher, who scored 30 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which O'Gallagher has scored at least a third of Master's Academy's points. Sage Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Winter Park's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Master's Academy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winter Park will take on Mount Dora Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Mount Dora Christian Academy is ranked 162nd, while Winter Park is ranked 156th). As for Master's Academy, they will play host again and welcome Calvary Christian Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Christian Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
