Given St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in New York, while the are ranked 51st in New Jersey), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Moore Catholic gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 60-26 victory over Wagner on the road. The victory was nothing new for Moore Catholic as they're now sitting on three straight.
Moore Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brianna Caliri, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Costanzo, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Moore Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea strolled past the Mavericks in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 66-48. Does St. Joseph-by-the-Sea have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
