The New Prairie Cougars entered their tilt with the Marquette Catholic Blazers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. New Prairie walked away with a 48-36 victory over Marquette Catholic on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as New Prairie also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
New Prairie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Morgan White led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The game was White's third in a row with at least ten points. Jolie Johns was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Marquette Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Livia Balling, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Balling pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Laniah Davis, who scored 13 points.
New Prairie pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Marquette Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-2.
New Prairie and DeKalb will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at. DeKalb will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while New Prairie is ranked 45th). As for Marquette Catholic, they will face off against La Porte at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
