Basketball Recap: Sunshine Bible Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Abby Hinman and Ciera Mickelson

Sunshine Bible Academy lost against Wolsey-Wessington back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders lost to the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds at home by a 51-34 margin. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sunshine Bible Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Ciera Mickelson and Abby Hinman. Mickelson went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Hinman posted nine points and six steals. Hinman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Sunshine Bible Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Sunshine Bible Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Wolsey-Wessington, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Sunshine Bible Academy will face off against Aberdeen Christian at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Wolsey-Wessington has already played their next game (against Highmore/Harrold), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
