On Thursday, the DC International Dragons faced Washington Leadership Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. DC International really took it to the for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-15 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but DC International sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Leading DC International to victory were Vanae Biddix and Kai Davis. Biddix scored 15 points along with five assists and five steals, while Davis scored 17 points along with eight steals. It was the first time this season that Biddix scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Diatou Diop, who scored five points.
Several Washington Leadership Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Summer Smith, who scored eight points. That was a full 53.3% of Washington Leadership Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
DC International pushed their record up to 11-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Washington Leadership Academy, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DC International's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Mighty Hoppers at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Georgetown Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Washington Leadership Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Timberwolves at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Idea's defense has only allowed 24.9 points per game this season, so the 's offense will have their work cut out for them.
