The Americas Trail Blazers won the last time they faced the Permian Panthers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Americas enjoyed a cozy 52-37 victory over Permian. Given Americas' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Permian is ranked 524th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
AIDEN MARQUEZ was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Americas' points. Another player making a difference was VINNIE VICENCIO, who scored 12 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Americas and bumps their season record up to 12-1. As for Permian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Americas will square off against Pebble Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Permian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Estacado at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Estacado has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 240 points over their last four games.
