After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fairmont Senior, the Philip Barbour Colts were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against North Marion by a score of 62-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Philip Barbour also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Leading Philip Barbour to victory were Kaden Humphreys and Trenton Bodkins. Humphreys scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Bodkins scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Bodkins grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Clinton Auvil, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, North Marion still got an impressive performance from Caden Morris, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Morris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Dylan Higgins was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The victory got Philip Barbour back to even at 4-4. As for North Marion, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Philip Barbour will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. North Marion won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Weir at 5:15 p.m. on January 13th. Weir will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 538th, while North Marion is ranked 54th).
