The RHAM Raptors will head out to face off against the Edwin O. Smith Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as RHAM comes in on four and Edwin O. Smith on ten.
RHAM gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Bacon Academy with a sharp 19-8 victory.
The team relied heavily on Mya Strumskas, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI and three doubles.
RHAM was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Edwin O. Smith faced off against South Windsor on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Bobcats 12-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Olivia Lipps made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rachael Morales was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Louise Champage, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Edwin O. Smith pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for RHAM, their record is now 10-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. RHAM hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like Edwin O. Smith struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
RHAM might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Edwin O. Smith in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Raptors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
