Houston hasn't had much luck against Arlington recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Houston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Houston fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Covington on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Chargers. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madeleine McClure spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Lindsey Barnes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Arlington posted their closest win since April 30, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Collierville, sneaking past 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won seven in a row.
Arlington also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brittanie Layton gave up three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.
On the hitting side, Breleigh Bunker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Rory Caldwell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Arlington's win bumped their record up to 7-9-2. As for Houston, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Houston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Houston's way against Arlington in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Houston made off with a 16-8 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
