On Friday, Foothills Christian strolled past Coastal Academy with points to spare, taking the game 42-27. The win made it back-to-back wins for Foothills Christian.
Foothills Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Hernandez led the charge by rushing for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 178 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes. Another player making a difference was Kameron Brown, who gained 251 total yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Coastal Academy had strong showings from Nathaniel Benavides, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, and Luke Terpstra, who picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Foothills Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Coastal Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothills Christian will face off against San Diego Jewish Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Diego Jewish Academy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Coastal Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
