The Hattiesburg Tigers had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Monday. They blew past Heidelberg 75-51. Given Hattiesburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Heidelberg is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hattiesburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Burns led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen McCullon Jr., who scored 19 points.
Hattiesburg pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Heidelberg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Hattiesburg will head out on the road to take on West Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heidelberg, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Richton at 7:30 p.m.
