The Santa Clara Bruins will challenge the Cupertino Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Santa Clara will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Fremont on Wednesday. The Bruins blew past the Firebirds 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bruins have posted against the Firebirds since February 28, 2018.
Rylan Morales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Jasmine (Jazzy) Ramirez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Averie Lopez, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cupertino, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against MacDonald on Wednesday as they made off with a 14-4 victory.
Talitha Vaughn and Shelby Apostolo did most of the damage at the plate: Vaughn went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Apostolo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Lilly Roman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cupertino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Cupertino is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Santa Clara, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Santa Clara might still be hurting after the 14-6 defeat they got from Cupertino in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
