They came out on top against Wayne Academy by a score of 51-42. The win was all the more spectacular given Lamar's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Wayne Academy is ranked 107th).
Jonathan Hart was the offensive standout of the contest as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lamar's points. Zion Huggins was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Lamar pushed their record up to 4-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Wayne Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Lamar will head out on the road to face off against Leake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leake Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Wayne Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Simpson Academy at 7:00 p.m.
