Softball Game Preview: Ashwaubenon Jaguars vs. Manitowoc Lincoln Ships

Ashwaubenon has gone a perfect 9-0 against Manitowoc Lincoln recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Ships at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ashwaubenon has three straight wins, Manitowoc Lincoln has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Manitowoc Lincoln's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Ashwaubenon hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Everything went the Jaguars' way against Notre Dame Academy on Monday as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kendyl Weiner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln fell victim to Green Bay Preble and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Hornets.

Ashwaubenon's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Manitowoc Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Ashwaubenon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Manitowoc Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Ashwaubenon keep running through batters, or will the Ships buck the trend?

Ashwaubenon took their victory against Manitowoc Lincoln in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
