There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. The action included a dizzyingly high 105-point combined score from North Kansas City and Belton.
Welcome
Liberty North not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Central in every quarter. Everything went Liberty North's way against Central as it secured a 37 - 0 win. One of the main ringleaders for Liberty North was junior Jake Van dyne, who tossed the ball for 280 yards and three TDs. The win also thrust Liberty North into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Even though Lee's Summit North was bested by Liberty 39 - 35 last week, Lee's Summit North's senior Christian Carter played one heck of a game. He ran for 263 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. That performance landed Carter among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Lee's Summit West (2nd in the power rankings) and Staley (4th) did not disappoint. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lee's Summit West beat Staley 21 - 17. Staley had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 6.86 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Lee's Summit West.
Next Week's Big Game
It should be quite a contest when Rockhurst (ranked 3rd in MO) and Bishop Miege (1st in KS) face off this week. Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
