The Caverna Colonels pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Washington County by a score of 57-55. Caverna has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Caverna's loss came despite strong showings from Tyson Martin and Jaylin Craine. Martin scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Craine dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Craine pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Russ Williams, who scored six points.
Caverna's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Washington County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caverna won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Scotties at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Glasgow knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Colonels likes a good challenge. As for Washington County, they will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
