The McMinn Central Chargers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Watertown Purple Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
After a string of three wins, McMinn Central's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chattanooga Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (51), McMinn Central still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Watertown got themselves on the board against Community on Thursday, but Community never followed suit. They blew past the Vikings/Viqueens 63-0 on the road. The victory was just what Watertown needed coming off of a 34-0 loss in their prior contest.
Watertown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Waldorf, who threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. Adam Cooper was another key contributor, rushing for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
McMinn Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Watertown, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
