The Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Covenant Christian Academy Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Fairfax HomeSchool is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Golden Eagles in Virginia (the Hawks are ranked 105th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 281st).
Last Friday, Fairfax HomeSchool was able to grind out a solid victory over the Gryphons, taking the game 58-50. The win was just what Fairfax HomeSchool needed coming off of a 74-52 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Covenant Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They fell just short of JV Opponent by a score of 49-47.
Despite the defeat, Covenant Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Brandon Alibaruho scored 15 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Alibaruho scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Marvin, who scored 12 points.
Fairfax HomeSchool pushed their record up to 19-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Everything came up roses for Fairfax HomeSchool against the Golden Eagles in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 70-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairfax HomeSchool since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
