Lynnfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Newburyport on Saturday. The Pioneers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Clippers a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lynnfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
