The Chattahoochee Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Centennial Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chattahoochee is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Chattahoochee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 36-32 to the Bears. Chattahoochee has not had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Laila West, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Riley Berninger, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Centennial was able to grind out a solid victory over the Spartans on Friday, taking the game 49-40. The victory was just what Centennial needed coming off of a 53-25 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Diamond Leslie, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Tatiana Oquendo was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Chattahoochee's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 5-15.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Chattahoochee have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Centennial, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 rebounds per game. Given Chattahoochee's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Chattahoochee came up short against the Knights in their previous matchup back in January, falling 32-23. Can Chattahoochee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
