The Franklin Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Edgewood Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Franklin rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Poly 49-0 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Franklin sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dre Harper led the charge by throwing for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only seven passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Anthony Gibson also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Franklin's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Poly's QB won't forget Bryce Allen anytime soon given Allen sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, while Edgewood put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Aberdeen. Edgewood blew past Aberdeen 47-0 at home. The win was familiar territory for Edgewood who now have three in a row.
Their wins bumped Franklin to 5-5 and Edgewood to 9-1.
Everything came up roses for Franklin against Edgewood when the teams last played back in November of 2019 as the squad secured a 54-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
