The Conner Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 67-52 to Ryle. While losing is never fun, Conner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Ryle is ranked eighth).
Ryle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Eubank led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Eubank has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Peters, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists.
Conner's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-13. As for Ryle, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conner will take on Whitefield Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ryle, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mercy at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Ryle is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
