Basketball Recap: Unioto Piles Up the Points Against Piketon

Unioto came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Piketon Redstreaks, posting a 59-21 win. The Shermans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 28 points or more this season.

Unioto was led to victory by Milee Smith and Mya Hamilton. Smith dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, while Hamilton went 9 of 12 en route to 21 points and three steals. What's more, Smith also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Charlotte Dennis was another key player, putting up six points and six steals.

Unioto has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Piketon, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

The future could be bright for both Unioto and Piketon: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Unioto will look to extend Southeastern's six-game losing streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Piketon will try to hand Paint Valley their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
