After a string of eight wins, the Dyer County Choctaws's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were dealt a 83-44 defeat at the hands of Trinity Christian Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dyer County has scored all season.
Trinity Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lekhy Thompkins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Thompkins' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Waller, who scored 19 points.
Dyer County's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Dyer County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake County at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Lake County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Dyer County is ranked 12th). Trinity Christian Academy and Central Magnet will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th at. Central Magnet is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
