After flying high against Springfield on Thursday, Centerville came back down to earth. The Elks fell just short of the Fairmont Firebirds by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Several Elks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelly Horky, who had 13 digs and four aces. Horky has been hot for a while, having also posted 12 or more assists the last 21 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadley Heil, who had 18 digs and two aces.
Noel Briones went supernova For Fairmont., getting 16 digs and four aces. That's the most digs Briones has posted since back in October of 2024. Emma Messer also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Centerville fell to 5-1. As for Fairmont, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
