Baseball Recap: Anderson Triumphs

Anderson won the last time they faced Muncie Central and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Indians came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 8-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Hunter Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for Anderson: the team is 7-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Anderson was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Anderson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cole Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another was KeAvon Burt, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Anderson's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Muncie Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.

Looking ahead, Anderson will square off against Lafayette Jefferson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Muncie Central, they will face off against Cowan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bearcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blackhawks have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
