Basketball Recap: Westwood Drops Season-High Score on Groesbeck

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westwood). They claimed a resounding 92-29 win over the Groesbeck Goats. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Leading Westwood to victory were Kavian Bryant and Chris Carter. Bryant went 11 for 20 on his way to 30 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Carter went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 19 points and seven steals. The matchup was Bryant's 16th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Lathan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Westwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Westwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Groesbeck, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Westwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-66 win against Fairfield on the 10th. As for Groesbeck, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mexia at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th.
