The Torrington Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Seymour Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Torrington is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Torrington was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Holy Cross. While losing is never fun, Torrington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Holy Cross is ranked eighth).
Meanwhile, Seymour was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 46-41 to Woodland Regional. Seymour has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Seymour got a solid performance out of Jillian Keough, who scored 12 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. Isabella Melissano was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Torrington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Seymour, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Torrington was able to grind out a solid victory over Seymour in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 50-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Torrington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
