Northwest Cabarrus is 2-8 against South Rowan since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will look to defend their home field against the South Rowan Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Northwest Cabarrus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Last Monday, Northwest Cabarrus came up short against Mount Pleasant and fell 6-3. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Molly Hatley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Ellis, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Rowan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand East Davidson a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Kynlee Dextraze, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Nora Wheeler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

South Rowan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

South Rowan now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northwest Cabarrus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like South Rowan struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Northwest Cabarrus might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from South Rowan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Northwest Cabarrus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
