Even though the Hubbard Eagles have not done well against the Girard Indians recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hubbard managed a 52-46 win over Girard. For Hubbard, this counts as revenge for the 47-34 defeat Girard walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Hubbard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Rybicki led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braydon Songer, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Hubbard now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Girard, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Hubbard will head out on the road to face off against Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lakeview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Girard, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. McKinley is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
