North Thurston has gone a perfect 6-0 against Mount Tahoma recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the T-Birds at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Thurston has eight straight victories, Mount Tahoma has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, North Thurston made easy work of Bellarmine Prep and carried off a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
David Perez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Perez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jaylen Kennedy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kole French was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
North Thurston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellarmine Prep only posted an OBP of .320.
Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma came up short against Timberline on Monday, falling 24-1.
North Thurston pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Tahoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Mount Tahoma's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Thurston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. It's a different story for Mount Tahoma, though, as they've only averaged .317. Will they be able to contain North Thurston's hitters?
Everything went North Thurston's way against Mount Tahoma in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as North Thurston made off with a 15-3 victory. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the T-Birds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
