The Dublin Scioto Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Westland Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Dublin Scioto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Dublin Scioto ultimately got the result they hoped for. They secured a 50-45 W over Worthington Kilbourne.
Niah Smedley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Rothe, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and seven blocks.
Meanwhile, Westland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 67-45 walloping at the hands of Grandview Heights. While losing is never fun, Westland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while Grandview Heights is ranked 208th).
Dublin Scioto's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Westland, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
