Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Josiah Moseley of
Stony Point (Round Rock) is the 2023-24 Texas MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6 senior forward led the Tigers to a 38-2 record and their first state championship game appearance.
For the season, Moseley averaged 22.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while shooting 62 percent from the field. He elevated his play in the postseason, averaging 23.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 2.3 assists in seven contests.

Moseley tallied 31 points and 20 rebounds in a second-round win over Judson (Converse) and recorded 32 points and 16 rebounds in a victory against O'Connor (Helotes) in the quarterfinals.
Regarded as the No. 62 prospect in the Class of 2024 according to
247Sports, Moseley signed with Villanova in November over offers from Illinois, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas, Texas Tech, USC and Virginia Tech among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released April 10.
