The West Lincoln Rebels pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newton-Conover. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (59), West Lincoln still had to take the loss.
Several Rebels players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mikalister Anderson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Anderson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Gideon Allen was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with four steals.
Javier Lineberger was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds for Newton-Conover. Lineberger hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Cannon, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
West Lincoln has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Newton-Conover, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
West Lincoln will be playing at home against West Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 72.5 so far this season, West Caldwell's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so West Lincoln better be ready for a challenge. Newton-Conover's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bandys at 8:00 p.m. on January 16th. Bandys is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 69.2 points per game.
