The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils lost against the Rome Free Academy Black Knights back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill was beaten by Rome Free Academy 75-44. While losing is never fun, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Rome Free Academy is ranked 182nd).
Rome Free Academy found their leader in underclassman Haylee Bostwick, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bostwick has scored at least a third of Rome Free Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Jackson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Rome Free Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
